Like you, I often hesitate to answer calls from unfamiliar numbers, but I’ve learned the hard way that sometimes it’s a mistake not to answer. That’s why this business is so important to me.

 

I completely understand the need to be cautious about scams—it's unfortunate, but that's the world we live in now. We, at PSRRE, will send letters, emails, and social media messages, but nothing beats the personal touch of a real phone call.

 

In 2008, my husband and I faced a situation that cost us over $400,000. It was our money, but because we didn’t know about it, we lost it. Nobody from the government called to say, “Hey, we want to give you some money!” We missed the deadline, and the state kept it.

 

Honestly, if someone had taken the time to explain where the money came from, we would have done whatever it took to claim it. Thinking about it still makes me feel sick—we struggled financially for a long time afterward, and the whole experience was a nightmare we couldn't escape.  It affected every aspect of our lives.

Now, let me introduce myself. My name is Cherie, and I’m 65 years old. I live in Oklahoma with my husband. We have five grown children and eleven grandchildren. Over the last 43 years, I’ve had extensive careers in both the banking and legal fields. I started my journey in 1979 at Piedmont Federal Savings and Loan in Manassas, Virginia.

 

In 1989, I transitioned into the legal field as a Court Reporter after extensive schooling and training. By 1992, I was working as an in-house court reporter for an investigation firm on 17th & K in Washington, D.C. I learned a lot about skiptracing and finding people.

 

After that, I started my own court reporting firm in Northern Virginia, working in courtrooms and law offices across Maryland, Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, Texas, and California.

 

In 2006, I purchased a court reporting firm in Seymour, Tennessee. Being so close to the University of Tennessee,  I spent a lot of time working with law students on campus. One of my major clients was the State of Tennessee Department of Children’s Services in Nashville.  It was a young law student who told me about "refund recovery" and the rest is history.  It's an addicting profession, because each time you help someone you say, "just one more today."

 

Through daily depositions and court cases, I realized that what happened to us should never have happened to anyone. We couldn’t afford the attorneys we needed, and nobody gave us the advice required to recover what was ours. Make no mistake—our loss was out of our control.
